MFD Hosts Roller Hockey Tournament
On June 7 the second annual roller hockey tournament kicked off at the Wilson Park Roller Rink with a ceremonial face off with the mayor and village trustees, fire department personnel and a representative from the Nassau County Burn Center. The Mineola PAL assisted in organizing the tournament by spending hours notifying teams from the county to the city of this worthwhile cause. All proceeds will be going to the Nassau County Burn Center. More than 300 all-star youth hockey players, ranging from 8 years old to 17 years old, participated in this year's tournament. Games will begin at 7 to 10 p.m. on weekdays and weekend games starting at 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. The playoffs will be on June 19 and 20. Come on down and root for the six Mineola teams that will be participating in the tournament.
