I am writing in response to Dr. Robert V. Blake's letter concerning the Mineola Bridge.

What the doctor failed to also observe is that since June 1998 it is impossible to walk over the bridge without either stepping into the roadway or stepping over the obstruction of a lamppost footing blocking the walkway on the west side of the bridge. To compound the problem, since October the east side of the bridge walkway has the same obstruction. Phone calls to Village Hall were given very vague responses and no action. One day I watched in horror as a mother with her child in a stroller had to go into the roadway to get around the obstruction.

I agree with Dr. Blake that the village officials apparently have not visited the site or if they did, are not very observant. My other question is, who is going to cut the grass that is now part of bridge structure?
