The 14th Annual Mineola Mustang one mile fun run/walk and 5K (3.1 Mile) run/walk raised $15,000 for the service organizations of Mineola on Nov. 15. The net proceeds will be divided among the Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Mineola Athletic Association, Mineola Police Athletic League, Mineola Auxiliary Police Department and the Mineola Historical Society.

Through his representative Kevin O'Donnell, County Executive Thomas Gulotta presented a special proclamation which states, "The County of Nassau is fortunate to have among its citizens many outstanding individuals and groups who, through their actions, good intentions and compassion for their family, friends and neighbors, present a glowing example of human decency and a strong sense of community.

The annual Mineola Mustang Run/Walk is an exciting event in which participants will benefit numerous human service and civic organizations which serve the community. The beneficial results of the annual run are far reaching: they enhance the quality of life in Nassau County.

On behalf of the County of Nassau, I extend hearty best wishes for the complete success of the 14th Annual Mineola Mustang Run/Walk."

Over 200 volunteers participated in this event. Scott Fairgrieve and the whole Mustang Run Committee would like to thank all the volunteers who made this event a tremendous success. A participant in the run once commented, "the event had more coverage on the course than any other community race." All volunteers supported the committee's objectives to make the race as safe and successful as possible.
