The biggest surprise at last Friday's Mayor's Halloween Party was the number of people who came to enjoy the haunted happenings at the Village of Mineola Community Center.

A packed house of costumed kiddies took turns on the Castle Bounce and the Hay Rides and enjoyed some of the candy and cookie treats served by the volunteers.

Responsible for the successful night were Tommy O'Brien, the Mineola Fire Department Juniors and the Boy Scouts of Troop 45 who handled the maintenance and decorations, the members of the Department of Public Works for their help with the hay ride and Kyle Teemsma and Patrice Grosskopf for their work organizing the event. (For a list of sponsors see this week's From the Desk of the Mayor and for additional volunteers see next week's Mineola American).
