Opinion

This is in reference to your article on the selling of the VFW building on Second Street in Mineola.

My auxiliary and I want to give credit where credit is due. I personally have been a member of Adolph Block Auxiliary #1305 for approximately 35 years, and want to say that William Jaeckle (Willie) has been the mainstay of that post for all of that time and a lot longer, although he was not mentioned in the article.

Willie booked the hall for parties, cleaned the hall before and after a party, after meetings and anything else that was held in these club rooms. He even held the mortgage for the post when it renovated the old building. Willie organized every post function, including the Memorial Day Parade and party after with village officials. We feel he was a very big part of Adolph Block Post #1305 and feel he should be recognized.
