Al and Diane Anderson of Ferncroft Road just returned from a 25th anniversary trip to Southeast Asia. Accompanying them to Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore and Borneo were their two daughters Heather and Lauren. The Andersons reside in the house built by Al's grandfather Victor, a Swedish carpenter, in 1926.

Candy Maia was born in Mineola 61 years ago and she and her husband Jack live on Mineola Blvd. "the house with the rock" right next door to Arlindo Cunha. Jack is very active in Portuguese affairs and is past president of the club. Candy, by the way, is the owner of the new Rio Grande Restaurant on Jericho Turnpike.

Chris and Mildred Berg have lived on Beebe Road for the past 49 years. Chris and Mildred helped found the West End Civics Association.

Paul and Dootie Senft will be leaving the village and moving to Westbury. Paul has lived in Mineola for many years and for a good deal of that time ran the K of C Hall.

While dining at B. K. Sweeneys in Garden City, we had a chance to talk to Nelson DeMille, the author of Plum Island and the Gold Coast.

Father Tom Murphy enjoyed dining at a Atavola.

Tom Doherty did a fine job as the supervisor at the Mineola pool. Tom who was born in Belfast worked for some 30 years for Aer Lingus. He is now manager of the K of C Hall.

Larry and Luba Egan of Frank Avenue enjoyed lunch at the Jericho Diner. The Egans have lived in town for 35 years.

George Russo was with the Mineola school system for 35 years and during a great deal of that time was the assistant superintendent. George says that the people of the Mineola School system were the best people he had ever known.

Jim and Ann Galante of Foch Blvd. are home from a two week trip to Alaska. The receiver of taxes and her retired detective husband Jim flew to Anchorage and then took a cruise ship down the coast for the rest of their journey.

Fred and Lenora Sweetapple of Wardwell Road have lived in the village for 38 years and never miss their daily walks.

Winona Wurzbacher died in Virginia recently. Some may remember her store on Mineola Blvd. which she ran with her husband Frederick for 30 years. It was a ceramics store called Wurzbacher Associates.

We were talking to Roger Fay the other day. Roger and Laura Fay have lived in Williston Park for 48 years and he was mayor of the village for eight years. Their son Vincent, who died so tragically, also served as mayor of Williston Park.

Library personnel seem to like the new director Carol Ahrens. Ms. Ahrens has 25 years of library experience and has twice before served as a director.

Blanche Paris of Garfield Avenue is still active in the Leisure Club. Blanche, who has lived in Mineola for more than 50 years, has held every position in the club and has twice served as the president of the Leisure Club. She was honored last year at the Chamber of Commerce Thanksgiving Dinner.

Tom and Vilma Doherty of Andrews Road enjoyed lunch at Glenerins.

Thoughtful Joe Galante, reading in this column that our receptionist was interested in learning Spanish, brought Kristine Bonfanti an English-Spanish dictionary.

Kathy Tomaras of the Bank of New York enjoyed lunch at the Seacrest Diner.
