Chris Harnett and Steven Keeler combined for 12 strikeouts in pitching Nassau Chromium past European American Bank 6-2. Harnett and Keeler were backed by sparkling defensive plays from Jonathan Hock and Kevin Tiseo. The two pitchers also helped themselves at the plate. Harnett and Keeler teamed with Joseph Cusker and Kurt Hertzer to drive in the six runs. It could have been much worse for EAB if it weren't for a diving catch in centerfield by Craig Strein with the bases loaded in the last inning. Mineola Bowl Mart defeated top seeded Port Washington 5-1, earning a spot in the final four of the 10- 12-year-old division of the interleague softball playoffs. Mineola got stellar pitching from Allyson Strein and airtight defense from Lauren Rafetto and Sara Easton to silence the Port Washington bats. Liz Terezo and Caitlin Orlando had big hits to drive in key runs in the pressure-packed playoff game.
