Many students at Master Charles Water's Hwang Karate Studio, located at 122 Hillside Avenue in Williston Park, have received belt promotions after successfully completing a series of extensive exams.

The students were evaluated on their physical skill as well as the character discipline required of the martial arts.

"Our goal at Hwang Karate is to facilitate mental growth enabling our students to reach their highest potential as human beings," said Mr. Water, owner and director of the school. "Our studio teaches students how to defend themselves responsibly while instilling self-confidence, self-discipline and respect for others."

Charles Water's Hwang Karate Studio, Inc. is a full time, professional martial arts school, with classes for children, adults and teenagers. The school is the only one on Long Island that also offers Karatatot, the program specifically designed for pre-school children starting at 4 years of age.

In addition, the studio now offers Pre-TOT, a children's program in which the parent participates. Starting at age 2 1/2, this age appropriate class enhances listening skills, physical coordination and confidence at the most important time of a child's life. Child safety is also introduced in a nonthreatening, nurturing manner. The class was requested by those parents who have other children in the program. Pre-TOT is a lot of fun for the children, the parents and the instructors.

The school provides complimentary workshops for those individuals or groups who are interested in either the mental or physical aspects of the martial arts. The school has been in Williston Park for 11 years. Woman's self-defense workshops are also available.

We are extremely proud to announce the following promotions:

From Albertson: Arpit Shah to Green Belt 2 Stripes

From East Williston: Edward Correia to Red Belt One Stripe.

From Mineola: Gabriel Couto to Green Belt Two Stripes; Ana Ferreira to Red Belt Two Stripes; Victor Murca to Green Belt Two Stripes; Robert Olszewski to Red Belt Two Stripes; Reid Rosello to Green Belt; and John Ryan to Green Belt.
