Anna Kinsey, wife of the late Leroy Kinsey, passed away on Easter Sunday at the home of her grandson Glenn Carr in Yucapa, California. Both Leroy and Anna were longtime residents of Mineola. Anna Kinsey, formerly Anna Oswald, was born on Aug. 14, 1912 on the Oswald Farm. The Oswald Farm extended from Jericho Turnpike to Westbury Avenue along Sheridan Boulevard and Roy lived on Cleveland Avenue. Leroy was a member of the Mineola Fire Dept. and ex-chief. He was president of the Firemen's Assoc. of the State of NY and also president of the Nassau County Firemen's Assoc. Anna and Roy were graduates of Mineola High School. They are survived by four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren in California.

Georgia Russo of Andrews Road celebrated her 90th birthday on April 30. Mrs. Russo's husband Mike was the barber in the old Mineola Hotel on Mineola Boulevard and 2nd Street.

Christine Olds, Kara Symington, Capt. Tom Bellizzi, Lt. Tommy O'Brien, Lt. George Rowe, Frank Heinrich, Bill Symington and Bobby Olds were lunching at the Jericho Diner after a morning of hard work at the Mineola Boulevard blaze, the devastating fire that destroyed several businesses. Christine and Kara are members of the Fire Dept. Auxiliary and the men are all Mineola firefighters.

Dolores Sedecca has done a good job as mayor of East Williston. She has served three years and has one to go. Here's hoping that she runs again.

Bud and Liz Morgan of Garden City used to live on Croyden Road in Mineola and still eat breakfast almost daily at our favorite diner.

We should start clamping down on those people who let their dogs go any old place and never carry pooper scoopers. The dog leavings are becoming a problem particularly around Memorial Park.

Frieda Garland enjoyed lunch at Milleridge Inn. Her husband Werner was the owner of Werner's deli on Jericho Turnpike. Werner still works three days a week for a Hempstead deli.

Judge Robert Rosenthal of Andrews Road was honored by the Key Club International for his 30 years with the Kiwanis Youth group.

MaryEllen Mauser of Latham Road works at staff managers as personnel manager. Bill and Ruth Stuart, owners of Staff Managers, have just opened their spacious new offices at 77 Jericho Turnpike.

The owner of a sewer roto-rooter company in Bayville, NJ, Manuel Pereira tells us that he and his dad were among some of the people who helped build the Portuguese American Club building in Mineola.

Sal Cataldo, that colorful figure who used to draw many people to village meetings back in the '70s and '80s just to hear his fiery oratory, is a customer at A and D Offset Printing on 2nd Street.
