Flag Given to Mineola Historical Society

The 75th Anniversary celebrations of the Mineola Memorial Library began on Oct. 16. Mayor John P. Colbert, village trustees, library board trustees and Library Director Sophia Martins were among the dignitaries present.

A very special presentation was made that evening. Col. Aaron Ogden Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution gave an American flag to the Mineola Historical Society in memory of Florence Van Riper. The Chapter Regent, Margaret Tillotson, and Chaplain Betty Dreyhaupt conducted the dedication ceremony which stated in part, "We are pleased to present our national emblem to Mineola Historical Society with many of its members in attendance. Other Col. Aaron Ogden Chapter members present were Doris Case, Shirley Weiss and Donna Serpico. may this symbol which has inspired our country for generations ever warm the hearts of all who behold it.
