Nassau County Legislator Richard Nicolello will be holding a property assessment grievance workshop for any homeowner who disagrees with the new tentative property tax assessment as shown on their Nassau County Property Notice of Tentative Assessment. By filing a Grievance Application for Correction of Property Tax Assessment during the formal grievance period through March 1, 2012, a homeowner will have the opportunity to dispute the assessed value of their property. Thrift Shop Half Price Clothing Sale

Port North Spring Boys Basketball

Port North is a 3-year-old independent basketball team based out of Port Washington that plays year round in the super league at Island Garden and various tournaments in the metropolitan area. The program currently has a combined record of 30 - 3 in the winter super league. The emphasis is on teaching the fundamentals, developing good practice habits and preparing players for middle and high school basketball. The team has a professional trainer with over 20 years experience. Help for Seniors

Are you a senior who would like help paying for your Medicare benefits and prescription drugs? Free assistance is only a phone call away if you qualify for extra help because of limited income. Help for Seniors

Family & Children’s Association, Long Island’s oldest human care agency, is offering help to seniors through its Senior Bill Payer Program. This program provides assistance to seniors with the management of their monthly bills and financial affairs. Trained volunteers visit seniors and help read their mail, organize their bills, balance their checkbook and prepare checks for the senior to sign. The senior must be able to make responsible decisions regarding their own finances in order to qualify for this program. The volunteers, who’ve been vetted and trained by Family & Children’s, can provide these services at the senior’s home; a sliding scale fee will be applied.
