Expanded Area to Include Four Blocks from Jackson Avenue To Searing Street, West of Oyster Bay Train Line

The Board of Trustees of Mineola voted to expand the overlay district at its most recent meeting. The expansion gives the village the opportunities under the development incentive bonus law, which would require developers to come before the board for approval as well as provide amenities to the village.

Possible Solutions for Drainage Discussed

MTA/LIRR and Mineola representatives recently met to discuss a possible solution to the flooding that takes place during heavy rainfall near the Mineola Train Station and its intermodal center. Mineola Mayor Jack Martins was at the meeting, but details of the meeting are unknown at this time.


Sports

Last week in Atlanta, MMA Fighter Andrew Montanez defeated Dustin Chovanic to win the National Fighting Championship’s Middleweight title.  Winning the title in his 25th professional MMA fight. Montanez was a 2003 Mineola High School graduate and a four-year varsity wrestling standout.

Mineola residents Scott Fairgrieve and the mother-daughter team of Annie and Katie Cappeller each came home with an award from the Aug. 14 Sands Point Preserve Sprint for the Feinstein Institute 5 Kilometer Run.
