Stop World Hunger, Inc. has announced that its annual tennis tournament has been honored as “2010 Innovative Tennis Program of the Year” by the Long Island Region of the United States Tennis Association. Recreational tennis players from more than 50 communities across Long Island are expected to participate in this year’s 30th Annual Stop World Hunger Tennis Tournament.
The 30th annual “Stop World Hunger” Tennis Tournament will be taking place between Aug. 28 and Nov. 14. Divisions are set up according to ability levels and geographic locations. Players schedule their own matches at mutually convenient times and sites.
The cost for the tournament is $6 for singles and $10 for doubles. The tournament format consists of no elimination, round-robin play. Awards are presented to the winners in each division. The registration deadline is Monday, Aug. 16.
