Thursday, 20 June 2013 00:00Runners from the Massapequas scored in the David Lerner Associates Long Island Police Appreciation Run June 6.
A strong contingent of Massapequa pavement-pounders was on hand for the 22nd annual edition of the 5-kilometer Run, held in Eisenhower Park, and many of them came away with awards.
Local award winners included Kevin McPadden of Massapequa Park, who scored second in the Masters Law Enforcement Division; Chelsea Hroch of North Massapequa, who was the second place finisher among the women in the 15-19 age group; Karen Conkling of Massapequa, who was the first woman finisher in the 50-54 group; and Howard Kestenbaum of Massapequa Park, who was the second finisher in the 80-84 age group.
The run was conducted by the Greater Long Island Running Club to benefit the Police Crisis Fund that provides financial support to Long Island law enforcement officers and their families in times of personal crisis.
“A big thank you to David Lerner Associates, that outstanding corporate citizen whose generous support for this event over the years has made everything possible,” said a spokesman for the Greater Long Island Running Club. “ The David Lerner Associates corporate team deserves the utmost in praise from everyone.”
