On Saturday, March 6, I went to Colleran Park with seven young children. I live in the neighborhood, and thought that this was the perfect park as I could watch all of them and they could not go far. Unfortunately, the park was locked with no explanation. Needless to say, the children and I were very disappointed.
Upon further thought I was a little annoyed as our tax dollars pay for the park, and the personnel to open and close it. So I called the resident services department and was told that the gentleman that opens the park was ill as he had just gotten out of the hospital. I feel terrible for this gentleman, but whoever he answers to should have made sure that someone was available to open the park for the taxpayer residents who might want to use it. I wonder if there were any tickets written on Saturday, as the same person who opens the park also cruises the parking lots and tickets people. I think you call them code enforcers. If there were tickets issued, yet the park remained closed, I think that is a shame for the children of the community.
