There has been another arrest in the string of burglaries that have taken place in recent months at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. And it was the same suspect arrested in prior cases.
On April 21, Mark Spruill of Amityville was charged with one count of Burglary 3rd Degree for another burglary at Our Lady of Lourdes Church that occurred on Dec. 13, 2009.
During that investigation, the Crime Scene Search Unit recovered blood evidence from a broken donation box. The Office of the Medical Examiner of Nassau County, Department of Forensic Genetics processed the sample and a match was made to the defendant. Spruill was arrested at the Nassau County Jail where he is currently being incarcerated for the prior burglary at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
This was the fourth time the defendant has been charged with burglaries at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
On Feb. 9, Bureau of Special Operations officers arrested Spruill in connection with a burglary that took place at the church on Jan. 31. The defendant was also charged in connection with burglaries that occurred at the same location on November 18, 2009 and December 5, 2009.
