The Plainedge Board of Education is now accepting applications to fill the current vacancy on the board. The individual who is appointed will serve through June 20, 2013. In May, there will be an election in which voters of the Plainedge School District will choose a candidate for the position.
Those interested in applying for the position should submit a resume and a statement setting forth the applicant’s reasons for applying to fill this vacancy no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3 to:

The board will be reviewing all resumes and statements and selected candidates will be interviewed during the week of Jan. 7, 2013, with the intention of selecting a candidate and appointing that individual at the Jan. 17, 2013 business meeting.
There will be a “Coffee and Conversation: A-B-C’s of School Board Service” forum for any interested applicants on Thursday, Nov. 29, at 8 p.m. in the Plainedge High School library.
Applicants must possess the following qualifications: Be a citizen of the United States; be 18 years of age or older; be able to read and write; be a qualified voter of the district and a legal resident within the school district for a period of at least one consecutive year immediately preceding the appointment. Applicants cannot be an employee of the Plainedge School District; must be the only member of his/her family serving on the Plainedge School District Board; may not simultaneously hold another incompatible public office; and must not have been removed from a school district office within one year preceding the date of appointment or election to the board.
