Petrullo Named Assistant Business Administrator

Returning to her hometown, Christine Petrullo has joined the Massapequa School District as Assistant Business Administrator/Purchasing Agent, bringing with her more than 12 years of financial experience.

Petrullo was welcomed into the district last October after serving Freeport UFSD in the same capacity for nearly seven years. Among her duties, Petrullo was responsible for supervising the operations of all accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, transportation, food service and data processing departments. She also prepared a $150 million school budget and worked closely with the assistant superintendent for business on all financial issues. Many of her responsibilities will remain the same in her new post.

During her career, Petrullo has been most proud of helping Freeport Schools attain three bond upgrades as well as successful audits from the State Comptroller’s Office and the Internal Revenue Service. She also supervised the district’s conversion of accounting and in-house payroll systems to a new platform.  Prior to her Freeport position, Petrullo was Deputy Treasurer/Budget Officer for the Incorporated Village of Valley Stream for five years.

“I love what I do,” Petrullo said, “I’m very happy to be working with the business professionals in Massapequa and serving the district in this capacity.”

Petrullo holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from St. John’s University and a Master of Education and SBA certification from Long Island University/C.W. Post Campus. She is a member of the New York State Association of School Business Officials (NYSASBO).
