The Plainedge Board of Education meeting on November 15 was a special one—it was Board Recognition Night. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Edward Salina Jr. opened the meeting by proudly acknowledging Plainedge’s football team, who unseated number-one Bethpage, 28-12, in the Nassau III semifinal at Hofstra University last Saturday.
“The Board of Education spends countless hours serving this district,” Dr. Salina stated. “They genuinely care and love the children and want to do what’s best for the kids. I want to personally thank the board. This is my first year as superintendent of schools and they are a very caring group, who ask intelligent questions. I have worked with various boards over the years and this one brings us to the next level. I have enjoyed working for you and with you.”
Each board member received a certificate and a beautiful Plainedge jacket. “This is the new logo we have just designed. Wear it well.” Dr. Salina said.
BOE President Catherine Flanagan spoke for the group when she said, “We spend a lot of time together and we look forward to another great year.”
