Seventh Squad Detectives report the details of an unusual incident and arrest, which occurred on Friday, June 12 at 5:41 a.m., in Massapequa.
According to detectives, police responded to a call for a possible suicide attempt at a residence on Central Avenue, Massapequa. Upon arrival, the subject was found to be armed and did not allow police to enter. Bureau of Special Operations, Hostage Negotiation Team, Emergency Services Bureau and the Seventh Squad responded to assist. While negotiating with detectives, the subject fired one round from a 16-gauge Remington 870 shotgun through the ceiling and roof of his residence.
The subject eventually surrendered and was removed without further incident and was transported to Nassau County Medical Center by Nassau County Departmental Ambulance, for observation. Four rifles, one shotgun, one air-pistol and assorted ammunition were recovered at the scene. There were no injuries.
The subject was charged with Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree and will be arraigned as soon as practicable.
