The Massapequa Fire Department was organized in 1910 and has been dedicated to the safety of the community for all of the past 100 years. With the department members that number 300, they answer 2,500 calls for assistance each year.
Ex-Chief Bill Beato said this is a great reason to celebrate and give back to the community for their loyal support. The program took place on Friday, Sept. 24 and Saturday, Sept. 25. The program on Friday included a car cruise and a concert by 7 Bridges Road and fireworks. Saturday included a 6th Battalion Drill and parade, followed with a concert featuring Big Shot, the Billy Joel tribute band.
The three-day event also featured a carnival in the LIRR Sunrise Highway parking lot with food booths galore.
