Art Workshop

The Massapequa Public Library presents a workshop from 10 a.m. to noon for painters with some prior experience using oils and acrylics. Beginners can paint using oil pastels, regular pastels or colored pencils. Mixed media also included for consideration. Workshop may include portraits, still life, teacher’s reference materials or photographs. Class size is limited, $55 due at registration. Additional $5 per person for each model sitting may be required. No refunds unless the class is canceled. Bring a table easel and your own supplies. Electronic Device Demonstration

Learn how to use those confusing electronic devices at the Massapequa Public Library from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. Attendees should bring their tablet, Nook, Droid, iPhone, Kindle and anything else for a demonstration and tutoring session with some of Massapequa’s most tech saavy teens. Strength Training

Also at the Massapequa Library, learn how to master effective and safe exercises to build muscular strength and endurance safely and effectively with a strength training course from 10 to 11 a.m. Registration fee is required — payments over $25 must be made by check only — register at the circulation desk.

Free Wine Tasting

Join The Vine Wine Cellar, 4638 Merrick Rd., for a tasting event, from 4 to 7 p.m., that promises to teach all attendees about wine. The event will help attendees purchase wine with confidence thanks to Vine Wine’s vast and varied vault. The Cellar will feature two of their California Vault wines and two of their favorite California wines from Sonoma and Monterey. For more information, call 516-590-7005.

Line Dancing

Presented by the Massapequa Public Library, 40 Harbor Ln., line dancing with Sherry Palencia is coming from 10:30 a.m. to noon. For the past 20 years, Sherry Palencia has become a well-known personality in the world of line dancing. Her talent as an entertainer and her fame as a dance instructor have taken her from the Lincoln Center in New York to numerous engagements across the country. Registration and fee required. Craft Fair

The Four Points By Sheraton Hotel welcomes community members to a Craft Fair April 19 from noon to 5 p.m. Come down to a wonderful indoor venue and check out all hand-crafted merchandise. Many vendors are participating and many items will be available for purchase, including Origami Owl, handmade Easter baskets, all-natural Italian extra virgin olive oils and IGP Balsamic vinegars, handcrafted jewelry and much, much more. Aerobics At The Library

The Massapequa Public Library, 40 Harbor Ln., presents the opportunity to learn movements to improve cardiovascular efficiency, increase flexibility and improve body tone. Low impact means no strenuous exercises. Come and get fit without the pain. Dress comfortably, wear sneakers, bring water and a mat. Attendees are also encouraged to bring weights. Boating Course

Join a boating safety course at the Massapequa Public Library, 40 Harbor Ln., starting at 9 a.m. The eight-hour course will cover boating laws, safety equipment, boat handling, navigation rules, trailing and how to operate personal watercraft. YES Fundraiser

The YES Community Counseling Center will present a fundraiser at the Nutty Irishman in Farmingdale. The concert, dubbed “Getting By With A Little Help From My Friends,” will feature the dynamic music of Half Step, The Therapy Band and Something In Between. Massapequa Memories

Come to the Massapequa Public Library, 523 Central Ave. location, at 2:30 p.m. and reminisce about the old days with Wilma Diehl, former assistant superintendent of the school district and long-time trustee of the Historical Society of the Massapequas. Attendees are encouraged to contribute their own stories and memories. Write down memories or bring photos of the old days. Help preserve Massapequa’s local history. Spring Fashion Show

The Child Welfare Department of the Massapequa Woman’s Club is sponsoring its annual spring luncheon and fashion show Wednesday, April 30 from noon until 4 p.m. at the Coral House in Baldwin. All proceeds from the event are used to assist needy families with children in the community who are experiencing temporary financial hardships. Come enjoy a delicious lunch, fashion show by Dress Barn and terrific raffles. The donation is $42 per person. Checks are to be made payable to Child Welfare. April In Paris

The Massapequa Park Garden Club presents a floral demonstration, “April In Paris,” by Gail Klubnick and Susan Jaccard-Bayens of Tim’s Florist in Massapequa Park. The event, at Massapequa Park Village Hall, 151 Front St., will feature floral arrangements and more than 40 raffles including baskets, gift certificates and Money Tree.
