Art Workshop

The Massapequa Public Library, 40 Harbor Ln., offers this workshop for painters with some prior experience using oils and acrylics. Beginners can paint using oil pastels, regular pastels or colored pencils. Mixed media also included for consideration. Workshop may include portraits, still life, teacher’s reference materials or photographs. Class size is limited, 55% due at registration and additional $5 per person for each model sitting may be required. No refunds unless class is cancelled. Turkey Trot

The 4th Annual Turkey Trot will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Brady Park. The youth fun run will start at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K Run/Walk will start at 9 a.m. There is a stroller division too. This race benefits YES Community Counseling Center. Creative Writing Techniques

1863 Thanksgiving Holiday Celebration

On Saturday, Nov. 23 and Sunday, Nov. 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Old Bethpage Village restoration will provide an old-fashioned Thanksgiving including decorated pumpkin pies baked in a beehive oven, and turkey roasted over an open fire. Each afternoon, traditional Fiddle music will be played, and children’s stories will be read several times each day. Musical Salute To Molly Picon

The star of Yiddish theatre, Molly Picon, receives a tribute from the Massapequa Library, 40 Harbor Lane, in the Bar Harbour Auditorium, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Diane Cypkin — through English narration — tells the life story of this exciting first lady of the Yiddish stage through the countless songs she sang and often wrote. Shop For A Cause Holiday Fair

Enchanting Events and the Long Island Business Group will host a holiday shopping fair benefiting the Nassau Suffolk Chapter of the Autism Society of America at the American Legion in Massapequa, 66 Veterans Blvd. There will be more than 30 vendors, as well as performers, raffles and a visit from Santa Claus.
