Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr., Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano, and Nassau County Legislator Mike Venditto will be sponsoring a Property Tax Exemption Workshop from 1 to 3 pm at the Massapequa Library, 40 Harbor Lane in Massapequa Park. Tax exemption specialists from the Nassau County Department of Assessment will be equipped with computers linked to the county’s database, and property tax exemption applications for Basic STAR, Enhanced STAR, senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, veterans, volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians will be processed. Tax exemption specialists will also provide assistance and answer any questions residents have about these exemptions. Homeowners who will be filing for an exemption should bring copies of any documentation that is required for the property tax exemption, including proof of age, proof of residency and proof of income. Recognizing veterns returning home from Afganistan, the Leathernecks Motorcycle Club New York Chapter is hosting a barbecue cookout fundraiser benefiting the families of marines. Adopt-A-Battalion is hosting it’s first annual “Support Our Troops” dinner on September 7 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of the Island Knights of Columbus Hall, 2 East Gate Rd. in Massapequa Park. Beginning September 11 and running every Wednesday through June, Massapequa Park offers a Mommy & Me program at Brady Park. Classes will meet on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. There is no registration fee and class size is limited.
