The Long Island Edge Pee Wee Major Team won the New York State Championship in Newburgh, NY on March 15 with a tight 2-1 victory over the Hudson Valley Polar Bears. The team's path to the championship included an exciting semi-final victory over the Southtown Stars based out of Buffalo in a 3 - 2 victory that was determined by a 12 round shootout. The Pee Wee Edge team, which is based out of the Port Washington Skating Academy, includes several boys from the Port Washington, Manhasset and Great Neck area who represent the Long Island Amateur Hockey League. The Edge's next step will be to represent New York State in the USA Amateur Hockey Championships in Indian Trails, NC.
