The Village of Massapequa Park board of trustees approved a budget for the 2009-2010 fiscal year, one that calls for $6,845,163 in total appropriations.
Revenues to be raised by a property tax levy amount to $3,633,874. Estimated revenues other than real estate taxes are set for $1,998,884.
The estimated appropriated cash surplus is $1,212,405. The assessed valuation of property in the village is $38,773,729. In all, the tax rate for the new budget is 9.37 percent per $100 Assessed Valuation.
In other news, the BOT authorized the Village Administrator to make a budget transfer in the general fund in the amount of $9,489.00 from account #A8170.400 (Street Cleaning - Dump Charges) to #A3310.200 (Traffic - Equipment) for new sign making machine, software, and training to be purchased from Nu Sign Supply, Houston, TX.
Once again, the BOT is directing village agencies to make several stop sign studies.
At the meeting, the BOT referred to the Planning Commission the study of stop signs at the intersection of Lakeshore Drive and Van Buren Street.
It also referred that same commission to make another study of stop signs, this one at the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue, north of Clark Boulevard.
Also on the subject of local roads, the BOT awarded a bid for the Merrick Road Beautification Project to Valente Contracting Corp., 77 Jackson Ave., Mineola. The amount of the bid was $235,795.
