State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) will be holding an informational meeting for senior citizens about protecting themselves and their loved ones from abuse at care facilities. Joining Senator Fuschillo at the meeting will be representatives from the State Attorney General's Office, which is the agency responsible for overseeing these facilities.
The meeting will be held at the Brady Park Senior Center, located at 1000 Lake Shore Drive in Massapequa Park, on Thursday, April 23 at 11 a.m.
At the meeting, seniors will learn about how they can protect themselves or their loved ones from abuse, neglect, or mistreatment at nursing homes or other board and care facilities. Seniors will learn how they can file a complaint with the Attorney General's office if they suspect wrongdoing at any of these facilities.
Those in attendance will also learn about the State's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, which is responsible for ensuring that Medicaid dollars are not lost, wasted, or stolen through fraud. The Attorney General's office will provide information about how seniors can report any suspected fraud.
Senior citizens who would like more information about this event can call Senator Fuschillo's office at 882-0630.
