The Massapequa Preserve stream flow and the drainage pond dredging is under way. Beginning in December of 2008, work began on the Massapequa Creek to increase the water flow.
This portion of the project will help to keep the former reservoir clear of sludge that collects in the northeast portion of the lake.
Dredging of the drainage pond will allow storm water funneled from the nearby streets to be absorbed and allowed to regenerate the estuaries and aquifers.
Massapequa's water source comes from ground water pumped from nine deep wells located throughout the 'Pequas.
