Jerry Laricchiuta, a 20-year resident of Massapequa, has been named as the newest member of the Village of Massapequa Park Board ofTrustees.
Laricchiuta replaces Joseph Pinto, who was recently appointed to the Oyster Bay Town Board by Supervisor John Venditto. Pinto was named to the board to fill the vacancy left by Angelo A. Delligatti, who was elected as a district court judge in January.
Laricchiuta is the President of the CSEA (Civil Service Employees Association) Nassau Local 830 union that has a membership of over 10,000 people from over 800 active titles of work in Nassau County, and nearly 40 departments. Local 830 is comprised of 7,000 Nassau County employees and over 3,000 from the Nassau Health Care Corporation.
Laricchiuta also comes to the BOT from the Sheriff's Support Unit of the Nassau County Correction Center, where he was Unit President before being elected President of Local 830 in June 2005. He made history when he became the first person in the Local's history to defeat an incumbent to become president.
Among his duties as president has been hosting a weekly radio show, plus starting a new website and advertising campaign. He often meets with members at their workplaces to discuss issues they might have, as well as contract talks and other significant topics.
Laricchiuta will be on the ballot as a Village People's Rights First Party candidate in the March 18 village elections. He will be joined by fellow party members Mayor James Altadonna and Trustee Harry Jacobson. All three are running unopposed. Also running unopposed for another term as Village Justice is Gerard E. Giannattasio.
