The Seventh Squad reports the details of two arrests for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 10:08 p.m.
According to detectives, Bureau of Special Operations officers responded to 190 Margaretta Avenue for shots fired. An investigation ensued that led to the arrest of Matthew Marrero, 23, of West Babylon for Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Sale of a Firearm 3rd Degree and Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree. A resident of 190 Margaretta Avenue, Francis Campbell, 25, had paid an agreed upon price for a sawed off Ruger model 10 .22 caliber rifle. In an effort to prove that the weapon was operable, Marrero fired the rifle out of an open living room window into the surrounding neighborhood. Campbell is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree and Criminal Purchase of a Weapon. There were no injuries.
Both men were arraigned in First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead on Jan. 15.
