Although forecasts predicted that nature would not cooperate for the Massapequa High School - Main Campus Homecoming Game against Baldwin, students were more than happy to come together in a show of school spirit and pride during the week preceding the big game.

Members of each class decorated the stairwells of Massapequa High School - Main Campus in a variety of themes, including Toy Story, Peter Pan, and The Little Mermaid, which were the sophomore, junior and senior themes, respectively. Students also dressed according to different themes for each day of the week, including "Profession Day," "Would You Still Be My Friend If I Wore This Day," "Disney Day," "Pajama Day" and "Blue and Gold Day." At Massapequa High School - Ames Campus, ninth-grade students got into the Homecoming Week spirit with an Alice in Wonderland theme, while the Ames Cheerleaders were busy fine-tuning their voices to support the Chiefs Football team.

The culmination of Spirit Week was a lively pep rally that featured performances by the Massapequa High School - Main Campus Treble Singers, the Chiefettes Kickline Squad and the Ames Junior Varsity and Varsity Cheerleaders, who displayed their talents and pumped up the crowd.

In addition, the Marching Band was on hand to keep excitement levels high as Massapequa's fall lineup of athletes made their way through an archway of sparkling blue and gold pompoms created by the cheerleaders and kickline squad. The last group of athletes to enter the gymnasium, the Chiefs Football team, received a rousing show of support from the bleachers, where their peers cheered and clapped in anticipation of the big game against Baldwin.

Although the rain forced the cancellation of Massapequa's Homecoming festivities, including the parade and scheduled performances by the cheerleaders and Chiefettes, the Chiefs did not disappoint their fans. Through teamwork and sportsmanship, they beat Baldwin by a score of 17-6, maintaining their undefeated record as they move into the second half of football season.
