The Most Reverend William Murphy, Bishop, Diocese of Rockville Centre appointed new pastors to 16 parishes on Long Island. The changes became effective on June 25.

Both St. Rose of Lima parish in Massapequa and Our Lady of Lourdes parish in Massapequa Park will receive new pastors.

Father Kenneth Zach was appointed pastor of St. Rose of Lima parish. He was the pastor of St. Isidore's parish, Riverhead. He also served as associate pastor in both those parishes. He was ordained in 1981.

Rev. Msgr. James Lisante was appointed pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes parish. He was previously pastor of St. Thomas the Apostle parish, West Hempstead. Ordained in 1981, Msgr. Lisante served as associate pastor of St. Boniface parish, Elmont and as director of the Diocesan Office of Family Ministry and coordinator of the Diocesan Respect Life office.

Father Zach replaces Msgr. Daniel Hurley, who recently retired as pastor of St. Rose of Lima.

Upon his retirement, Msgr. Hurley was honored by local lawmakers, including Massapequa Park Mayor James Altadonna, Town of Oyster Bay Councilwoman Rose Walker, and Nassau County Legislator Peter J. Schmitt.

At a ceremony at St. Rose, Legislator Schmitt declared June 26, 2008 as "Msgr. Daniel Hurley Day" in Nassau County.

"In recognition of the tremendous impact that Msgr. Hurley has had not only on St. Rose, but on the entire greater Massapequa community, I am honored to present him with [a] Citation which proclaims June 26, 2008 as 'Msgr. Daniel Hurley Day' in Nassau County," Legislator Schmitt said.

Other appointments in the Diocese of Rockville Centre are as follows: Father Donald Babinski was appointed pastor of St. Mary's parish, East Islip. Father James Drew was appointed pastor of St. Vincent de Paul parish, Elmont. Rev. Msgr. Richard Figliozzi was appointed pastor of St. Catherine of Sienna parish, Franklin Square. Father Douglas Arcoleo was appointed pastor of Our Holy Redeemer parish, Freeport. Father Sean Gann was appointed pastor of St. Joseph's parish, Kings Park. Father Steven Peterson was appointed pastor of Our Lady of Fatima parish, Manorhaven. Father Bruce Powers was appointed pastor of SS. Peter and Paul parish, Manorville. Father Joseph Nohs was appointed pastor of Holy Spirit parish, New Hyde Park. Father Kevin Smith was appointed pastor of St. Dominic's parish, Oyster Bay. Father John McGratty was appointed pastor of St. Francis de Sales parish, Patchogue. Father Robert Kuznik has been appointed pastor of St. Isidore parish, Riverhead. Father Nicholas Figliola has been appointed pastor of St. Lawrence the Martyr, Sayville. Father Anthony Stanganelli has been appointed pastor of SS. Philip and James parish, St. James. Rev. Msgr. Francis Maniscalco was appointed pastor of St. Thomas the Apostle parish, West Hempstead.
