Eighth Squad detectives report the arrest of a North Massapequa man on Wednesday, July 2 at 9:30 p.m. for an attempted murder that occurred in North Massapequa on Sunday, June 29 at 1:15 a.m.
Detectives report that Paul DeFilippis, 21, of North Massapequa, did punch a male victim, 20, about the head and face, while the victim was a passenger in a vehicle parked at the Mobile Gas Station, 975 Hicksville Road. DeFilippis then produced a black handled silver knife and stabbed the victim about the face neck, torso, and legs as the victim was attempting to flee, detectives stated. The victim received several stab wounds to the wrists and hands in an attempt to fend off DeFilippis' attack. The victim was able to jump into some bushes. Police said DeFilippis then entered the passenger side of a vehicle driven by Ryan Hopper, 19, of Seaford. Both defendants then fled the scene.
Witnesses drove the victim, who suffered multiple stab wounds and lacerations, to New Island Hospital, where he received a multitude of stitches to close wounds.
