On Monday, May 26, the weather cooperated beautifully and the annual Memorial Day parade in downtown Massapequa enjoyed another big success.

According to village officials, up to 1,000 people lined the streets to view the numerous local residents marching in the parade and above all, to honor veterans, both living and dead.

The parade started at Broadway Avenue and wound its way to Clark Boulevard, south to Park Boulevard and west to Front Street before ending with a solemn ceremony at Brady Park.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were Mayor James Altadonna and other members of the Massapequa Park board of trustees, Assemblyman Joseph Saladino, Nassau County Legislator Peter J. Schmitt, Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor John Venditto, and Town of Oyster Bay Clerk Steven Labriola.
