Arson/Bomb Squad detectives report the arrest of a male juvenile for an arson that occurred in Massapequa on Friday, March 22 at 1:35 p.m.

Detectives report that a male juvenile did throw a Molotov cocktail against the wall in the rear of Toys R Us, 5520 Sunrise Highway, causing damage to the wall of the store. A secondary fire occurred when the male juvenile attempted to throw away the burning wick from the device by throwing it into the woods behind the store, detective said. Seventh Precinct Police Officers responded and placed the juvenile under arrest in the vicinity.

Massapequa Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

Arson/Bomb Squad and the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office responded and are investigating. Juvenile Aide Section detectives responded and processed the arrest.

The juvenile was charged with Arson 1st Degree (A Felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree (D Felony) and Arson 5th Degree (A Misdemeanor) and was arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead, on Sunday, March 23.
