Opinion

As each new year passes many of us take the time to reflect on the past year. For some, those thoughts are joyous, for others it is a time of struggle and despair. But, thanks to the kindness and generosity of our community, hundreds of presents and a room filled with food were made available to dozens of families. Yet, miracles don't just happen without the open hearts of many of our neighbors. As a nonprofit charity, YES Community Counseling Center is committed to improving the quality of lives for children and families residing in our community through our comprehensive programs. But, our mission cannot be accomplished without our selfless friends and neighbors. YES, located at 75 Grand Avenue in Massapequa, relies upon the support of government and the kindness of charitable donations and support. We can be visited at our website at yesccc.org and you are encouraged to call us at 799-3203 if you have any questions about the services that we provide for youth, adults and families.

A community is only as strong as those who believe in its potential and are willing to lend their support on behalf of others. Our profound gratitude goes out to those individuals, clubs and organizations who selflessly brightened the lives of those families who were in great need. Our very special friends include the Kirby Family, Stromstedt Family, Massapequa SADD Club, Ladies Auxiliary of the Massapequa Fire Dept., Chamber of Commerce of the Massapequas, Phyllis Doria, Eve Eskin Brown Foundation, Ann Bambino Lodge, St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Target Levittown, Massapequa Reformed Church, St. Rose Parish Outreach Center, Sullivan Family, Corrine Helou, Girl Scout Troop 3615, Berner M.S. SADD Club, Jane DeSimone - Girl Scout Troop 3742, Massapequa Civic Association, Massapequa H.S. French Spanish Club, East Lake Secretarial Assn., Massapequa Jr. Women' Club, Bob Buckman Q104.3 and to all those silent contributors who gave so that others could enjoy the magic of the Holiday Season.

Our community becomes a far more beautiful place to live because of people who think and believe in others. From all of our very grateful families, thank you.
