The community is invited to join Friends of Massapequa Preserve on their seventh anniversary to learn more about two important issues. First, representatives from the Nassau County Department of Public Works will be on hand to explain and answer questions about the multi-year, $6 million stream enhancement and pond restoration project in the Preserve. Scheduled to begin in the spring, this massive project will involve the temporary closings of portions of the Preserve and partial dredging of some of the ponds and streams. The paved bikeway will be re-routed as it is torn up section by section and completely rebuilt.

The second issue they will discuss will be Nassau County's proposal to transfer the entire Preserve to the Town of Oyster Bay and the impact this may have on both the future of the Preserve and those who currently use it.

All are invited to attend on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m. at the Massapequa Library, located at 40 Harbor La. in Massapequa Park.
