On a recent weekend in October, Massapequa residents Bruce Hambrecht and Anne Mehlinger joined twenty-five members of the 72-year-old Long Island Horticultural Society who responded to an urgent call for help from the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau.

Bond Act Approved by Large Margin
Along with the races for individual offices in Oyster Bay, local residents also approved Proposition Two, a $60 million environmental bond act. The act was approved by a healthy 22,381-8,684 margin.

MHS Volleyball Squad Wins LI Title
The Massapequa High School girls' volleyball team is moving onto the state title playoffs. In recent weeks, the Lady Chiefs defeated both East Meadow, 3-0 to win the Nassau County title and Ward Melville, 3-1 to take the Long Island crown.
