Arson/Bomb Squad detectives report the arrest of a male juvenile, 15, for the criminal possession of a weapon that occurred in North Massapequa on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7:40 p.m.

Detectives report that a male juvenile, 15, while outside a residence on Rosewood Drive, did intentionally combine a mixture and confine the substance inside a plastic container, causing the container to explode. The explosion caused minor injuries, detectives added, (lacerated right palm and a laceration to the right side of the chest) to a male victim, 51, who picked up the container as the male juvenile fled the scene.

Seventh Precinct Police Officer John McGovern arrested the juvenile at the Seventh Precinct Station House. The juvenile was charged with Criminal Possession of a weapon 1st Degree (B Felony) and was released to the custody of his parents on an appearance ticket returnable to Family Court, Westbury, on Thursday, Oct. 18.
