Seventh Squad detectives report a serious motor vehicle accident that occurred in Massapequa on Monday, Oct. 1 at 2:30 p.m.

Detectives report that a 2004 Dodge Stratus operated by Nelson Espinal of Uniondale, eastbound on Brooklyn Avenue, struck a bicyclist, male, 16, traveling northbound out of the parking lot in the rear of 50 Brooklyn Avenue, just west of Hicksville Road.

The bicyclist, who suffered massive trauma and injuries to his head and back, was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where he was admitted and is listed in critical condition, detectives said.

The Dodge was impounded for brake and safety checks. The bicycle was removed from the scene for safekeeping.

There were no summonses issued. There were no charges filed.
