Lodge Gala to Honor Salvatore Patrone
The Columbus Lodge #2143 (CL), a not-for-profit fraternal organization, announced that they will hold a Fight for Education gala on Oct. 19 at the Stuart Thomas Manor with proceeds from the event supporting scholarships for graduating students from Farmingdale, Massapequa, Plainedge and Bethpage high schools who are enrolled in a college program.

Jan Serra, Community Activist, Dies
Jan Serra, a Massapequa native, and co-designer of the firefighters Bell Tower erected in 1986 at the corner of Park Boulevard and Sunrise Highway in Massapequa Park, died at the age of 83 on Aug. 28.

Five-Year Old Completes Mile Run
The weather could not have been better for the 3rd annual Main Street Mile, making the memories of the winds and rain from Tropical Storm Ernesto from last years race a distant memory. Records were set this year for registrants (335) and two course records for the men (4:10) and women (4:48).
