The Massapequa area was hit by two burglaries on the evening of Thursday, July 12, both of which occurred within mere minutes of each other.
The first burglary, according to detectives from the Seventh Squad took place at 2:38 a.m. on July 12 in Massapequa.
According to detectives, a female victim was awakened in the bedroom of her Quail Run home by a subject shining a flashlight at her. When the victim screamed the subject, police said, ran out the rear door. The victim, upon checking the house, noticed her pocketbook missing, police added. There were no injuries. The subject apparently entered through an unlocked rear window, police said. There is no further description.
The second burglary occurred no less than 12 minutes later, at 2:50 a.m., also on July 12 and also in Massapequa.
Seventh Squad detectives said that a male victim was awakened in the bedroom of his Belair Drive home, when he was slapped in the face by a male subject demanding money. This subject, police said, was accompanied by possibly two other males with flashlights. The subjects grabbed the victim's jeans containing his wallet, left his room and kicked in the door of his mother's room across the hall demanding money from her as well, police added. The subjects fled the home when they realized the victim had called police. There were no injuries. The subjects, police said. appeared to have entered through a rear window.
One subject is described as a black male, late teens, clean cut. Another subject had a possible Jamaican accent. No further descriptions are available.
