Massapequa resident, Corinne Rodi, opened her first dance studio in 1952. Miss Corinne, as she is fondly known by her hundreds of students, has taught dance for 55 years. Travel with her in Massapequa for just an hour and you will run into several people who know her - they, their children, or their grandchildren have studied with Miss Corinne.
Miss Corinne started dancing at age 5 and studied under legendary dancer Henry LeTang. After a career as a dancing and singing soloist on stage throughout America, Corinne settled in Massapequa and opened her first dance studio. While her studio had several locations over the last 55 years, her main location has been Broadway in Massapequa, making her studio the longest running show on Broadway! Her Broadway Studio, Jacto, continues to spread the love of dance on Long Island through instruction in tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop and ballroom under Miss Corinne, her granddaughter Nicole and talented staff.
Miss Corinne is also a charter member of the Ann Bambino Lodge, Order Sons of Italy. She has held dance classes through the Lodge and Adult Education courses at many local schools. Thanks to her, many brides and grooms have enjoyed a beautiful first dance at their wedding.
Please join Miss Corinne as she celebrates her 55th year of teaching dance in the Massapequa's and her most recent honor as the Town of Oyster Bay for Women of Distinction in the Arts on Saturday, May 5.
