The Salvation Army on Long Island assisted over 70,000 of our neighbors during 2005. Food, rent assistance, camper ships, substance abuse services, and a host of other services were rendered to Long Islanders in need. A portion of the money to fund these services every year is raised during the Army's Christmas campaign. This Christmas season The Salvation Army on Long Island will attempt to raise $600,000.

To help The Salvation Army with the upcoming Christmas campaign, three anonymous donors are giving the "Army" $20,000 each, with the stipulation that the "Army" match it dollar for dollar with "new money." The donor defines "new money" as money given by first time donors to The Salvation Army's Christmas campaign or regular contributors giving more than they have previously given.

Monetary gifts should be sent to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 448, Mineola, NY 11501-0448. Thank you for helping The Salvation Army match the grant.

James W. Reed, board member

The Salvation Army, Nassau County
