Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto and members of the town board gathered at the town's September 11 Memorial last week to pay tribute and remembrance to the men and women who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

"Last year, the town dedicated its September 11 memorial, situated on the bay side of Tobay Beach, where there is a direct line of sight to where the Twin Towers once stood. It provides a serene and peaceful surrounding, making it a fitting backdrop for a place of remembrance," Venditto said. "Our residents now have a permanent structure at which to gather and remember those lost."

The town's memorial monument is inscribed with the names of Town of Oyster Bay residents lost on September 11, 2001. The memorial also features a steel beam recovered from the World Trade Center, which is positioned in the direct line of sight where the Twin Towers once stood.

"I hope that all residents will continue to use the town's memorial as a location where they can reflect and pay homage to those lost," Venditto concluded. "As long as we keep visiting this memorial, we will keep the spirit of our loved ones alive."
