Last week, The Massapequan Observer reported that Massapequa resident Ryan McAleavey was named the first head coach of the men's lacrosse squad at The Globe Institute of Technology.

However, this newspaper has been informed that McAleavey has resigned his position, citing personal reasons.

McAleavey was initially hired on the strength of his previous coaching stints, including working as the assistant coach at Suffolk West CC, where he helped bring them to the NJCAA National Championship game, for the first time in school history in 2006. Previously he was an assistant coach at perennial NCAA Division II national power Dowling University and also played for them.
