New York State Police are investigating a one car fatal collision that occurred eastbound on the Northern State Parkway in Melville, west of Route 110. The collision took place at 5:35 a.m. June 26, as the operator was heading from his home in Massapequa to his employment at Shop Rite in Hauppauge. The operator and sole occupant of the tan, four-door, 1995 Toyota Corolla, was identified as Mario Carratelli, age 46, of Massapequa. Police report that the vehicle struck a tree head-on killing the driver instantly.
