In addition to their Manhattan College Diplomas, senior athletes Anders Constantin and Jenna Daly of Massapequa, now have a CoSIDA All-District Honor to remind them of their academic success during their days as MAAC Champion athletes at Manhattan. In a vote amongst CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) members, Constantin and Daly were selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 1 First Team for track and field.
Ten members comprise each All-District Team with the men and women having their own teams. In all, there are eight districts around the nation with each district containing a similar number of schools as each of the other seven. District I covers all schools in New England and the entire state of New York. With their first team selections, Constantin and Daly will now move onto a national ballot where they will compete for Academic All-America bids.
Jenna Daly, who earned her degree in secondary education, closed out her track and field career by helping the Lady Jaspers capture their eighth MAAC Outdoor Team Championship in nine years by taking the individual pole vault title.
After transferring from Kutztown University in Pennsylvania, Daly established herself as the top pole-vaulter in the entire New York Metropolitan and Tri-State areas.
During her sophomore season, her first as a Lady Jasper, Daly won the MAAC Indoor and Outdoor Pole Vault Championships and the Metropolitan Indoor and Outdoor Titles. She continued that trend for each of her three years in Riverside.
The Long Island native graduated as a six-time MAAC Champion, six-time Met Champion, and four-time MAAC All-Academic selection. Daly set her personal record in the event at the 2005 MAAC Indoor Championships by clearing 3.68m. During the 2005-06 campaign, she cleared 3.60m on several occasions with her best mark being 3.66m.
