On Sunday, June 11, the Massapequa Lacrosse Club (MLC) will be holding a tournament to raise money for juvenile diabetes.
Juvenile diabetes is a devastating disease to the individuals who have it and their families. That is one of the reasons why President Bush named November 2005 as Diabetes Month and increased the amount of money that was budgeted for juvenile diabetes research.
The MLC is having this tournament to bring awareness of Juvenile Diabetes to all the people who play lacrosse and the community at large, and to raise money to find a cure.
The MLC is inviting residents to be a part of this first ever event. The tournament will take place at John J. Burns Park, Merrick Road, Massapequa Park.
To date, MLC has over 1,500 children and 60 teams who have signed up to play. They have received hundreds of donations from individuals from around the country.
On June 11 there will be a kick-off ceremony at John J. Burns, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
