(The following letter was written to Inspector Thompson of the Seventh Precinct and published here at the author's request.)

I am writing this letter to tell you of a crossing guard located at the intersection of Harbor Lane and Nassau Street in Massapequa Park. This intersection gets extremely busy for 20 minutes each schoolday morning and afternoon. I have been driving my son to school for three years now and whenever Kim is not there, the traffic is awful. She handles the cars, buses and children and adults crossing flawlessly. It is like watching one person with eyes everywhere! And she does it all with a smile, never nasty. It is like she is in her "zone" when she is working.

I just had to tell you what a wonderful crossing guard you have and, of course, the Birch Lane parents are very lucky to have her as well! Our children are safer because of her.
